Niceness is a slang term, mostly used in relation to the surrounding tiles of City, Town, Outpost or Farm tiles. Each night phase, whether one of those four building tiles will gain an extra unit of power is dependent on the niceness of the eight tiles around it. If the total niceness of the surrounding tiles (rounded down) is higher than the current power (and the tile is not at maximum power and buildings), the building tile will gain one extra power. If all buildings on the tile are already powered, the tile gains an extra powered building.
Tiles that add niceness
- Grass and Forest tiles add 1 to niceness
- Crops and Water tiles add 0.5 to niceness
- All other tiles add 0 to niceness
Note that in winter, Grass and Crops tiles count as Snow tiles and as such do not give any niceness.
